On 21 June we hosted the final meeting of the European Futour project of which we are partners together with the German vocational training school QBS Werkstatt of Bochum, Eurocollege (Cyprus), the Zespół Szkół Morskich school of Darłowo (Poland) and Asserted Knowledge (technical partner - Greece). Futour had and has the objective of supporting trainers in the tourism sector in redefining their skills and developing innovative strategies for sustainable and digital tourism starting from the training of new generations.

The Round Table: A Dialogue on the Future of Tourism

The final conference of "Futour" was an opportunity for us to invite important stakeholders from the tourism sector, and bring them together in a round table to discuss the future of tourism in the province of Cuneo.

Moderated by the journalist Gabriele Gallo, the following spoke:

  • Mauro Danna, deputy director of Confindustria Cuneo (CuneoNeve)
  • Marilena Lucchino, promotion service manager for the Cuneo Chamber of Commerce
  • Daniela Salvestrin, ATL director of the Cuneo area
  • Alice Gallouin, expert in art and technological innovation and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts of Cuneo
  • Giorgio Proglio, founder and CEO of tabUI APP

The Futour Project: A Bridge to the Future of Tourism

The Futour project was designed to provide students, teachers and industry workers with free methods and tools to prepare future tourism professionals.

Werner Furhmann, director of QBS Gewerkstatt, the project's lead body, opened the proceedings by explaining how Futour aims to offer a vision of the future of post-pandemic tourism, addressing problems such as the shortage of workers in the sector.

The project was divided into three main phases and produced three key results:

  • Literature review: a comprehensive analysis of available research and scientific publications.
Training kit: training tools for teachers in the tourism and commercial sector.
  • MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses): online courses available in five languages, which can be used independently or in group teaching activities.
  • A practical application of the Futour method has already been successfully carried out in some classes of the first year of the Cfpcemon aesthetics course, demonstrating the versatility of the project.
